Two-dimensional (2D) MXenes, which are transition metal

nitrides/carbides, have exceptional electrical conductivity and

capacitance and have found diverse applications since their discovery in

2011. In particular, MXenes have been used as cocatalysts in

photocatalysts through combination with other photocatalysts to

enhance the separation of photogenerated charges, prevent the

recombination of these charges, and transform solar energy into

chemical energy or utilize it to degrade organic molecules. The

composition and morphology of photocatalysts are influenced by their

synthesis method and can significantly impact photocatalytic

performance. The review provides a perspective on future studies that

could further advance the utilization of MXenes in photocatalytic

hydrogen evolution reactions.
